Your rights as a voter

You have the right to register and vote without paying anyone, without intimidation, and without disclosing your choice to anyone.

If you are unable to mark the ballot yourself due to disability or literacy, you may be assisted by a person of your choice, or by the presiding officer in the presence of agents. Your choice remains confidential.

Persons with disabilities, pregnant women, nursing mothers and the elderly are entitled to priority in the queue.

Your employer must allow you reasonable time to vote. Election day is a public holiday.

Nobody may buy your vote, threaten you over it, or force you to attend a rally. Voter bribery and intimidation are crimes. Report them to the IEBC, the police, or the EACC.

You have the right to accurate information. Check claims against official IEBC communications, and be wary of unsourced forwards on social media.
