Justin Bedan Njoka Muturi is the insider who turned on the government from the inside. A principal magistrate for fifteen years, MP for Siakago from 1999, and Speaker of the National Assembly for two full terms from 2013 to 2022, he presided over the first Parliament elected under the 2010 Constitution. He backed Kenya Kwanza in 2022 and was appointed Attorney General, then Cabinet Secretary for Public Service. In January 2025 he broke ranks publicly, telling the DCI that the National Intelligence Service had abducted his son Leslie in June 2024 and released him only after the President intervened, and naming the state in a wider pattern of abductions. He was dropped from the Cabinet on 26 March 2025. He now leads the Democratic Party of Kenya inside the United Opposition, chairs the People's Restorative Justice Commission, and in August 2026 was named a coordinator of the People's Forum for Electoral Preparedness.
