Rigathi Gachagua is a Kenyan politician who represented Mathira constituency in Nyeri County in the National Assembly from 2017 to 2022 on the Jubilee Party ticket, serving through the 12th Parliament. He left the National Assembly to become Kenya's second Deputy President, taking office on 13 September 2022, a position he held until his impeachment in October 2024. After leaving the deputy presidency he launched his own political outfit, the Democracy for the Citizens (DCP) Party, in May 2025, becoming its party leader. His career thus moved from a single term as a backbench MP to the country's second-highest office and then into leading a new political movement.
